Historically the church has been a meeting place where people come together and worship. In days gone by this was for a lot of people the chance to meet up with members of their community and swap stories with each other as people worked pretty hard in those days. Unions with young people were often formed, as the older folk preferred their young ones date and marry within their church and religious beliefs. Back then it seemed a lot easier in many ways to meet your perfect mate as church picnics and gatherings were perfect ways to get to know other single men and women without too much pressure. A belief in the same religion would have been a great talking point at first as would be shared morality and principles making the foundations to a union fairly good. Even today these important issues can be the making or breaking of a romantic relationship. Many of the more strict religions are still insistent that young people date and marry within the confinements of their religion and value system. Meeting someone through your church could be the start of a fabulous union.
