Coming Up With Wedding Ideas

Being engaged is a great time, but it can also be stressful. Now is the time when a bride needs be a little more creative, it is time to come up with wedding ideas. It really doesn’t matter if you want your wedding to be traditional or elegant, modern or casual; you still need some ideas on what the wedding will be like.

Coming up with wedding ideas seems to be easy enough. The question is how does one come up with wedding ideas in the first place? Well the first way is pretty simple, find ideas within yourself. Wedding ideas can be as simple as how you picture your dress, your hair or your centerpieces to look like. Even if you feel completely clueless on what you want your wedding to be like, most likely you are well aware of what you do not want at your wedding. You can start there as well.

Most brides to be have a general idea of a few things. Maybe you always thought tiaras were nicer than veils or you know how your hair should be or have an idea of the perfect bouquets or bridesmaid dresses. Start with what you absolutely know you want and build from there.

Need more ways to come up with wedding ideas? How about revisiting your memories of other weddings you have been to. Whether these weddings are recent or years back it does not matter. Think about the things you loved and the things you hated. Use these memories to help come up with ideas of how to make the things that were great better or how to avoid mistakes you have observed.

You can always go outside yourself for wedding ideas as well. There is nothing wrong with asking family and friends what they think of your ideas or ideas of their own. However if you do decide this is a good idea just remember you are opening the door to endless unsolicitated advice throughout your engagement!

Still need help finding wedding ideas? That is fine too! Go to your local bookstore and buy (or browse) through the wedding magazines and wedding books that you find there. You can start by looking at weddings in general or you can look for specific types of ideas, like picture books on wedding centerpieces or checking out different types and colors or flowers which will be available at the time of the wedding.

Want ideas now, don’t want to wait? Use the internet. The internet has plenty of resources for brides planning their wedding, from wedding planning articles to online wedding stores where you will be able to shop for all your wedding needs!

How To Start Wedding Planning Once You Are Engaged

When most people get engaged they are overcome with happiness and a sense of well being and why not? They have found the person that makes them happy, someone they have chosen to spend the rest of their life with. Although this is a very happy time, eventually you must start planning your wedding. But what should you tackle first? Where do you start?

The first thing most people do is tell everyone they are engaged. Start with your parents, face to face would be best. Then decide on how to tell everyone else. You can have an engagement party, announce your engagement on a wedding website, announce in the local paper or send out traditional engagement announcements. Of course you can do a combination of all of the above.

The next thing you should think about is the guest list. Not just who might come but coming up with a final guest list rather quickly. It is important to have a finished guest list as soon as possible because it affects many areas of wedding planning. The amount of guests will affect the overall cost, the size of the ceremony and the reception and who gets notification of your engagement.

Another item which must be tackled, may very well be the most agonizing – the wedding budget. You really need to know how much money you have to spend on the entire day. The budget covers everything from the reception (including food, alcohol, seating, decorations, cake and entertainment) to the clothing, jewelry and stationery. You should come up with a number and then break it down into each category. Make sure you can afford everything you need but at the same time make sure you have enough to cover expenses.

Next you will want to sit down together and discuss what each of you wants the wedding to be like. You may be surprised that you and your spouse have different opinions of the big day. You will most likely have to really listen to one another and come to some sort of compromise on many areas of the wedding.

Lastly, you need to decide the wedding date as well as the location of the ceremony and the reception. You need to choose places which are available on the wedding date which you have selected and which can accommodate how many guests you have chosen. You might also want your ceremony and reception site to fit well together. In other words you do not want one site to be formal and the other to be casual.

All of these activities are part of big decisions. The good news is once you make the beginning decisions, the rest of the wedding planning will go more smoothly! Congratulations on your engagement and good luck with your wedding planning.

Easy Wedding Planning

Planning a wedding can be a lot of work. Many brides feel overwhelmed, especially during the early stages of wedding planning. Here are some tips on how to start planning your wedding in an organized fashion which will be far less stressful.

Start Big

It may be tempting to start out with fun things like invitations or decorations, but that is a temptation you really need to avoid. There will be time to choose all those things later, but for now you need to start big. Yes, start big. I know people usually tell you to start small, but weddings just do not work that way! Take care of the big details and the smaller stuff will be much easier later on.

The Location

Where you’re getting married is important. It can create a look and feel of the entire day. Think about different places to get married and how each choice can affect the overall atmosphere of the day. A beach wedding will certainly be different than a big church wedding or an outdoor affair. Start by choosing where you are getting married.

It is also important to make this decision early because you need to reserve your wedding date. If you fall in love with a certain location, but cannot get married on your chosen date you will have to make a decision. You will either need to change to location or the wedding date. If the wedding date is what is changed, that could affect any other decisions you already made. That is why it is so important to choose your ceremony location early.

Choosing the reception location will follow the above rules. Decide upon where you will have the reception after the ceremony as well as how long a period of time will be in-between the two. Do not forget to allow adequate time for travel and for you to be able to take wedding photos.

Choosing a Wedding Theme

Next you want to ask yourself what kind of wedding you want to have. If you choose you may want a themed wedding. Themed weddings are becoming more and more popular. Some common themes are fairytale weddings, Celtic weddings, beach weddings, Romance and holiday weddings. Incorporating a theme is really not that difficult, you just need to choose wedding stationery, favors and decorations carefully to accentuate your theme. If a theme is not for you that is fine but you still need to decide how your wedding will feel by choosing the type of wedding such as casual, traditional or modern.

Choosing Wedding Apparel

Finally it is time to choose what you and the wedding party will wear. This includes choosing the wedding dress, the Tuxedos, and the Bridesmaid dresses. Choose wisely as again this will affect how your wedding looks, as well as the wedding colors.

Making Decisions of the Rest of the Day

Once you made all your choices above you can move onto the rest of the details. The good news is that once you know where, when, wedding type and clothing the rest of the details will be easier. You know the wedding colors or theme so now you can choose cake designs, flower colors, centerpieces and stationery with ease. You will be making decisions to match all pieces on the wedding to one another and because you took the time to be organized your wedding will come together much easier.
